One of the most traditional and oldest events on the racing calendar, Rolex Fastnet Race has run since 1925 and has by now grown into one of the greatest sailing events in the world. Together with Rolex Middle Sea Race and Rolex Sydney to Hobart, this bi-annual event is most certainly one of the top 5 ocean racing events globally.
Taking place over 5 days and across a 600 nautical miles stretch of the Atlantic between the Cowes, on Island of Wight, in Southern England, and the Fastnet Rock on the Southern tip of Ireland, the 2017 event is likely to attract 300 racing crews. Passing major southern coasts’ headlands such as Anvil Point, Portland Bill, Start Point and Lands End, before rounding the famous Rock and sailing through the Scilly Isles. Battling the unpredictable winds and tricky tidal waters, the racing crews will hit their finishing line in Plymouth
Some participants can take part in training weekends during June and RORC1 from Cowes to St Malo in early July or RORC 2 Channel Race at the end of July. The preparation day for the race is on 5th August while the Fastnet Race starts on 6th August.
